History

Dirt and his wife Deborah settled in Blanco in 1999 to be near his son. They started the business “Dirt Works” with Wayne running the equipment and Deborah in the office. The company has grown in size and incorporated with Wayne as the President and we now have a General Manager, Office Manager, several estimators, field supervisors, dispatcher and a total of over thirty employees.

The Company is an experienced and fully insured contractor in all phases or road work, site work and many types of commercial and residential pads. We have our own granite gravel quarry, a screening plant where we screen our own material to supply all of your landscaping or material needs from our material yard located here in Blanco. Dirt Works has completed bonded work for local municipalities in underground utilities and Park reconstruction. Our fleet of trucks included tandems, belly dumps and water trucks. We also have several dozers, backhoes, loaders excavators, blades and skidsteers to handle any job large or small. Dirt Works has built many tanks, ponds and lakes up to over 10 acres in size. Dirt Works is the area distributor and installer for Reef Industries, which is a geo-textile liner manufacturer. Dirt Works specializes in lining these tanks and lakes and guarantees them to hold water.

Wayne B. “Dirt” Dworaczyk — President

Wayne began working in construction right out of high school in 1979 with Brown & Root Construction. Working in all areas of excavation from scraper crews to backhoe and dump truck operations. Wayne was heavily involved in underground piping, utilities and foundations. By 1985 Wayne was promoted to General Foreman, supervising crews of over 100 employees.

After ten years Wayne accepted a position with one of the top utility contractors in the nation, Garney Companies, located in Kansas City, Missouri. Garney specializes in laying major water and sewer lines and Wayne was their lead backhoe operator. He was in charge of digging and laying the pipe and also doing the finish work on backfill and clean up. Garney is also where Wayne was given his nickname, “Dirt”, by a foreman who declared that because “Dirt” could run any piece of equipment and had a special ability to “work dirt” that this should be his name, and it stuck.
